About Pure Concepts
Ayako Yoshikawa Gordon founded Pure Concepts, LLC in September 2010, inspired by her belief in the importance of building community through soulful, handcrafted goods. Her visions derive from not only an evolving dialogue with her Japanese heritage, but also from the heart of a woman who loves providing care to those finding happiness in something as simple as a home-cooked meal.
Ayako & Family is just one of those visions. It points to her passion to create love within the realm of the kitchen. Under this label you will find homemade jam in more than a dozen different varieties. The source of her fruit is Mair Farm-Taki in Eastern Washington, one of the most highly regarded and unique local Organic Japanese farms, allowing her to create flavors such as Damson Plum, Mirabelle Plum and Rhubarb.
Ayako & Family also specializes in handmade Japanese Pork Gyoza (potstickers). Her ingredients include sustainable organic pork from Rain Shadow Meats in Melrose Market and vegetables from Mair Farm-Taki.
Ayako also independently provides floral arrangements using both wild and foraged and/or organically farmed flowers and edibles. Currently, she works with Katherine Anderson, owner of Oxbow Farm and flower shop Marigold & Mint, in creating arrangements for renowned restaurants across Seattle including Sitka & Spruce and The Corson Building. Ayako’s arrangements are whimsical and minimalistic, reflecting not only the vigorous and diverse natural environment of the Pacific Northwest, but also the calm nature of the Japanese tradition of Ikebana.
